GRUB2 Passing non-UEFI standard separators to chainloaded .efi's

Hello, I was using GRUB2 as a boot manager for a multiboot setup and it came to my attention that the booter path GRUB2 passes to any .efi's it chainloads uses forward slashes '/' as directory separators as opposed to backward slashes '\' which adheres to the UEFI standard.

This renders me unable to use the bootloader as it was intended. Is there an option for this that I'm not aware of, or was this an intentional design choice?
