I run some "speed tests" with --word-processor option but I found no
difference concerning type-ahead and backspace behaviour.

I agree that "word processor" option should disable "type-ahead" logic.

Typically, as soon as "backspace" is allowed, I think type-ahead should
no longer be enabled.
