Now when I think about it, having TERM set to "linux" within my X session is
incorrect. This happens because I start the session by invoking startx at
the Linux console.
If I start X session from a display manager, for example lightdm, TERM is
not set to anything, and gtypist correctly exits with an error:
"Error opening terminal: unknown."
Perhaps this explains why you could not reproduce the issue?
But, like you wrote, you could handle errors from get_widech anyway.
Thanks,
