In the test file, in the code for /F (search for "% Font selection"), before it calls setfont, try adding debug code like (ascent) = Ascent = (descent) = Descent = The various fonts should have ascents between 6 and 14 and descents between -1 and -5. The file seems to size the boxes based on metrics that it extracts from the fonts. Most applications that place text either assume the same height as the argument to the scalefont operator or pass the text to the stringwidth operator instead of using the global values from the font. The file also has fancy debug code if you uncomment (remove the leading %) from the two lines % 3 cm 20 cm moveto 10/Courier ReportFontInfo showpage % 3 cm 20 cm moveto ReportAllFontInfo showpage I think that including debug code like that in a release shows that they have had problems with fonts before, possibly because the global font values are not dependable, especially in fonts that contain a few symbols or special characters with anomalous sizes.
