It works for me with the gv from https://github.com/william8000/gv and gs 10.03.1
What operating system do you have?
Can you try testing to see if the problem is the total length of the path + file name or the length of the file name or the embedded spaces or the embedded parentheses?
Regards, William

Subject: gv 3.7.4 can not open a pdf file which indeed exists

Dear maintainers,
I included the affected pdf files in the attached.

When I open one of the two files, the "Proofs, Computability, Undecidability, Com - Jean Gallier.pdf", I got the following error message:
========================

==================================
However I can open the file with xpdf at the same directory.

The other file "Discrete Mathematics - Jean Gallier.pdf" can be opened by gv.

I guess if the filename of the "Proofs, Computability, Undecidability, Com - Jean Gallier.pdf" makes gv to fail to open the pdf.

Thanks
