Package: hurd
Version: N/A

Of course it does. You didn't expect to work it at first try, did you?

However, this bug is special because it does not even start to compile X. It
crashes while building the Makefiles with Imake.

To reproduce this, get xfree-1_3.3.3.1-4 source package from the Debian
archive, and issue:

dpkg-source -x xfree-1*dsc
cd xfree-1-3.3.3.1
dpkg-buildpackage -B

just as with any other package. It will extract and patch the upstream
source just fine (it has even already support for dpkg-architecture!), and
then start to make the upstream target "World" in build-tree/debian.
After building Imake and a couple of Makefile, it dies badly (Computer
bought the farm, ext2fs died, return to prompt and reboot within few seconds).

After reboot, you can simply reproduce this with

cd build-tree/xc
make World BOOTSTRAPCFLAGS

I hope you can reproduce this.

I tried to make a log with tee, which doesn't copy STDERR by default. I will
try again with 2>&1, and sent in a log later if it contains any useful
information. What I will do now is to type make World in the different
subdirectories to see if we get some X stuff built despite this problem.

Thanks,
Marcus

Hi,

building X now works. So this bug seems to have gone indeed.

Thanks,
Marcus
