The problem is that it doesn't crash if run in gdb, but it does crash if
not.  Also, I have not seen a problem in the code, although it does behave a
bit weird, eg in the case of the old magic code, looping over readdir
gives ".", "..", NULL, "..", "NULL".  OTOH, it seems the translator itself
also crashes, maybe that has an effect on the whole thing.
