You said "occasionally", which always makes us nervous (or apathetic). Can
you reproduce this reliably, or at least frequently? Can you distill the
failure down to a smaller case (run sh -x configure and see if you can
discern the individual failing commands and try to make them fail on their
own)? Can you at least give full info on what exactly you tried so someone
else could try it too?
