when we have drivers on userspace, probably we'll have a modular structure
like a /servers/hardware hierrachy and a /dev translator handling it.
so if you want to work on devfs now, maybe the first step would be
defining the /servers/hardware interface, then providing it with Mach
drivers and write devfs to use that. then when we have userspace drivers
it can easily be replaced (and will be nice to have the interface defined)
I heard there's a document describing the /servers/hardware interface
already... erm, Wolfgang?
btw, i plan to start seriously working on userspace drivers this summer.
my idea is to write a modular framework with translators handling the
frontend (trivial char device, trivial block device, multifile device),
and a component that attaches drivers from the Oskit (in userspace) to
the end translators.
