OK, I'll try to do this but it will take some time. I don't even know
what a .mdwn page is. Why not plain .html?

I have not seen this problem on any of my boxes: One using kvm_intel
the other using kvm_amd. Which version of of kvm is problematic?

Yes, but during first boot you need to specify the cdrom, and rebooting
does not change that, cdrom option is still available in the boot menu.
