Here's what my test shows:

./ping -i 10 ftp.gnu.org.ua

I think we are getting our wires crossed a bit - the output that shows ping generating packets every 0.5 sec is the behaviour that I want.

It was not done by me though, the person who mailed it to me did so because I asked in a thread on the LARTC list whether ping -i 0.5 worked for anyone - it works for him and he has since mailed me his binary which works for me. I have just asked which distro it's from.

ping -i 10 worked for me with latest inetutils release, but not when I tested the cvs first time, adding the one line fix that Alfred sent fixed that.

I just undid that fix and cvs ping -i 10 throws an invalid length without it.
