\partcombine bug (or maybe documentation update)

The score below causes a crash for me.  The error message is below the 
score.  The Lilypond version is 2.2.0 on Mac OS X.

The error goes away if either:

        \notes { c'8\> c'\! r2.  }

is changed to

        \notes { c'1 }

or, if

        \notes { R1 * 2 }

is changed to

        \notes { R1 }

It may be that in \partcombine you should always have the same number 
of measures in each part, but this is kind of a hassle when putting 
together a piece.  In any case, thanks for lilypond.  It's fantastic.  
I'd contribute a patch if I knew scheme.
