Please send bug reports to the bug-lilypond mailing list.
I have included a Cc: there and confirm that the bug remains
in the latest CVS version. A good test file for the debugging
is input/no-notation/midi-volume-equaliser.ly, which works well
in version 2.6 but shows the reported bug in latest CVS.
Also, for questions on specific features of the development
versions, I'd rather use the lilypond-devel mailing list
than lilypond-user which mainly is devoted to general usage
questions that apply to the stable version.

Hi:
Lilypond 2.7.9 in Fedora Core 4 now produces decent midi output
except that it doesn't assign the instrument patch name in
Staff.midiInstrument.
If I put something like this:
...
\set Staff.midiInstrument = "acoustic guitar (nylon)"
...
The output will have a piano patch assigned to it instead of the
guitar.
Anyway, the line-breaks are now working fine.
Keep up the fine work...
