\paper within \score

In section 3.2 (How LilyPond files work) you can find this:


   The `\score' can contain other things, such as

  \score {
    { c'4 a b c' }
    \layout { }
    \paper { }
    \midi { }
    \header { }
  }

This is wrong.  \paper is not allowed within \score.
