The "do" is a command to you, the user. omit that, and it should be fine. Maybe it should be "type into a command window sh lilypond- X.Y.Z.linux-x86.sh" to avoid this kind of confusion.

When I try to install lilypond:
# do sh lilypond-2.10.33-1.linux-64.sh

this returns:
-bash: syntax error near unexpected token `do'

# /bin/bash --version
