Stemless and metrum-free notes

Hallo,
after reading through your manual, I did not find any information on the 
possiblity of using the musical noteheads without stems and in a metrum-free 
music (such as gregorian chant). I found the vaticana notation style. It is 
very appealing but it is somewhere else. I want to use normal noteheads and 
normal staffs with normal clefs, but using it for music which has no strict 
metrum and therefore only noteheads can be used and no bars, measures and such 
like. Thank you,
