The obvious workaround, #'padding = #0, does align the lyrics lines, but would let the words touch in a modified exampel where they sing at the same time.
This workaround looks fine to me. I can't think of any sensible reason for wanting lyrics associated with the up staff and the down staff to be aligned to the same baseline unless they _never_ both occur at the same time. This is relatively rare. The usual situation, in which up and down lyrics do occur at the same time, is to have differing baselines so the lyrics are clearly separated. It would be wrong to make 'padding = 0 the default just to reproduce the 2.12 behaviour. 2.13 is an improvement in this regard. Trevor
