Comment #11 on issue 1298 by joeneeman: minimum-Y-extent might be obsolete? http://code.google.com/p/lilypond/issues/detail?id=1298The Y-extent of a staff no longer affects the vertical spacing of staves. Therefore minimum-Y-extent (which affects Y-extent) no longer affects the vertical spacing of staves. I think that this use of minimum-Y-extent was by far the most common (certainly it is the case for all of the examples in comment #1).
Of course, minimum-Y-extent has an effect for _some_ grobs, since the positioning of many grobs depends on their Y-extent. So no, it is not obsolete, but it will probably be less used in the future.
