I hacked together some code, scm/define-note-names.scm, with a language 
"unicode" added.

When using LilyPond 2.15.17 to compile the test-unicode file below, it seems 
that #(set-accidental-style 'modern-cautionary) gives what should be the 
default style. And in notation.pdf, p.23, the hash marks # have been replaced 
by dollar signs $.
