The use of this

  \set Score.alternativeNumberingStyle = #'number

or

  \set Score.alternativeNumberingStyle = #'numbers-with-letters

deserves an explanation (as a snippet) in the notation reference,
NR 1.4.1 Long repeats  and maybe a cross-reference in  NR 1.2.5 Bars >
