I think now this issue has been split off into 2 different thing but I'm  
still not clear what this issue is now.

As far as I can tell Keith has resolved the issue about \hidenotes -  
mentioned here - I opened issue 2162 where I didn't think that an example  
of what won't work was needed in the NR and that my patch was explanation  
enough.

But am not sure what this leaves for this issue (if anything). So while my  
original patch says for this issue I am really using issue 2162. Hence this  
is still patch needs work.
