Huh.  Something fishy here, since \0 is used about as often (or less)
than -0.

Maybe \0 means an unison where you have both an empty string and a
fingered note on the string below?

Or an empty string that is left to sound for longer?  If this were a
lute, it could have meant a resonance string, but the tuning is typical
for guitar.
