Though, due to a very annoying LSR-bug every changed snippet (even if
only the description changes) results in cropped images.
I had to add
\markup \vspace #1 %avoid LSR-bug
And since this snppet is tagged doc, it will appear in our documentation,
too.

This would seem to be likely to be a feature of how lilypond itself produces
cropped images. Have you experimented to see whether that's the case?

Hi Phil,

I wrote about it before:
http://lilypond.1069038.n5.nabble.com/LSR-image-cropped-td133090.html

And we had some offline-discussion about it.
In case you've deleted the mails I quote the relevant parts:

[...]
For testing I added two simple snippets to the LSR (ofcourse not approved)
`testing-new-snippet'
and
`testing-stand-alone'
Previews here:
http://lsr.dsi.unimi.it/LSR/Item?u=1&id=851
and
http://lsr.dsi.unimi.it/LSR/Item?u=1&id=850

Both are showing weird output.

Have you tried producing them locally with the -dpreview option?

Hi Phil,

I didn't test with -dpreview before.
But now I've done it on my machine, all images are correct.

So I'm pretty sure the problem is with LSR.
[...]

I repeated the test with LilyPond 2.14.2 and the -dpreview option.
Resulting always in bad or cropped images.

Don't know what else I could do.

OK - so it looks like it's just the "standalone" images that are cropped - although when I set this snippet as non standalone, I still get a large image, with just the one like of music at the bottom (same as your 851). That's odd, too.
