I presume that you are talking about `abc2ly` not printed as bold in
the `DESCRIPTION` section of the man page.
We are using `help2man` (version 1.47.4, but the latest one, 1.49.3,
gives the same results for this issue), and this is what we get.

This is already fixed in the development version of LilyPond.

What you suggest is not what GNU programs like `rm`, `ls`, or `dir`
do. I'm not going to change it for this reason.

Again, this seems to be a shortcoming (or a lacking feature) of
`help2man`. Since we don't massage its output, this won't be fixed in
LilyPond.
