the problem with git has been reported already here:
http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-make/2016-05/msg00041.html
I found the same problem with the programs mentioned in the summary line. All
of them are failing with the 'install' target which can be fixed by adding a
'-j1' to the make call.
Reverting commit
http://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/make.git/commit/?id=9bb994e8319c2b153cd3d6d61e2c2882895e7c3a
solves the issues for me.
