Follow-up Comment #1, bug #63638 (project make):

I can reproduce this.  Interesting.  I'll take a look.  I'm not sure why PATH
is treated specially here (I tried with some other env.var. and didn't see it)
but clearly there's something happening.  Thanks for the report.
