I don't think ncurses' terminfo binary-format is compatible with AIX's.
(I was in fact running some tests recently on an AIX 4.x box and noticed
the same behavior). As mentioned a few weeks ago, it would (probably)
be possible to construct a customized include/Caps file to align with
specific vendor's versions (such as HPUX) where the terminfo file is
close-but-different.
