that's the only interesting fail-to-build I have on my list, so I'll see if I
can resolve it this week.

(I was testing on QNX some this weekend - investigating the QNX-specific ifdef
for vsscanf - and the C++ demo builds but didn't work properly - but there's a
lot of things broken on that platform, so I'm not sure how much is my fault).
