I think the same approach would work:  a wrapper for the function(s) that
create the objects that you would like to draw boxes around.  Perhaps one
function to collect the list of fields, another to construct the box and
enclosed fields on the screen.  As long as the box isn't overwritten by
something else, updating or repainting the window would preserve it.
