I suspected Rich was talking about a hardware tweak, but was secretly
hoping for a software workaround :). Thanks for chiming in.

We have multiple instances (at least a dozen in our lab, I think) of
this board, some of which have been sold to customers, so hardware
tweaking is not a practical solution for us, unfortunately.

I was hoping there is some sort of stty invocation or other software
tweak to 'fix' the console. In most cases, the script invocation
succeeds; it's just the few situations where manual intervention is
required that are annoying.
