I assume that's a hardware device (not a program) intended to be VT100-like.

time permitting, I'll construct a program from the traces and see if there's
some improvement that I might make to the optimization (or some recommendation
on changes to the terminal description which would address this device).

...but also this week someone wants work on a different port of ncurses
