OK, here is the parted view of the disk geometry:
heron:sbin # ./parted /dev/sdb

The fdisk view of the disk geometry:
heron:sbin # fdisk -l /dev/sdb
Disk /dev/sdb: 255 heads, 63 sectors, 1116 cylinders

heron:sbin #
Both are identical. Or am I doing something wrong?
