Hi,
AFAIK, this only makes a difference if you are giving tar the -p option
when extracting ... which probably isn't a good idea. I don't know of
any other reason to go to the effort of making sure all files are owned
by root ...
Also, with the directory permissions, if you have your 'umask 022' this
shouldn't be an issue, since all directories will be created mode 755
(unless you specify -p to tar).
