the detection from parted 1.4.8:

parted /dev/sda print
Disk geometry for /dev/sda: 0.000-4095.856 megabytes
Disk label type: msdos
Minor Start End Type Filesystem Flags
1 0.031 1153.103 primary ext2
3 1153.103 4094.692 extended
5 1153.134 1286.455 logical linux-swap
6 1286.486 4094.692 logical linux-swap

the true patition table (if the table is clean???):

fdisk /dev/sda

Command (m for help): p

Disk /dev/sda: 255 heads, 63 sectors, 522 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 bytes

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1 1 147 1180746 83 Linux
/dev/sda3 148 522 3012187+ 5 Extended
/dev/sda5 148 164 136521 82 Linux swap
/dev/sda6 165 522 2875603+ 83 Linux

It isn't my boot disk.

the module used: ncr53c8xx

cat /proc/scsi/ncr53c8xx/0
Chip NCR53C875E, device id 0xf, revision id 0x26
On PCI bus 0, device 11, function 0, IRQ 10
Synchronous period factor 12, max commands per lun 32

It's the first disk with Id 00:

cat /proc/scsi/scsi
Attached devices:
Host: scsi0 Channel: 00 Id: 00 Lun: 00
Vendor: SEAGATE Model: ST34371W Rev: 0512
Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02
Host: scsi0 Channel: 00 Id: 06 Lun: 00
  Vendor: MATSHITA Model: CD-R CW-7502 Rev: 4.10
Type: CD-ROM ANSI SCSI revision: 02

Can I give you other information about it?
