Very strange. (The Warning *always* appears on x86, BTW)

Me too!

Could you compile it like this:

        $ CFLAGS=-g ./configure && make clean && make
        $ cd parted
        $ libtool gdb parted
        (gdb) run

        ... watch parted crash

        (gdb) bt

send us the output of this command

        (gdb) quit
