In future, is it possible to provide a URL, rather than inlining
these big patches?  Thanks.

I think I should apply the patch to 1.5.x only, not 1.4.x.
People expect 1.4.x to be stable, and this is a lot of new code
that lots of people are going to try.  Also, have you got the
regression tests working?  You might find them useful...

I presume this is a work-in-progress... (like, the exception
thing I talked about still hasn't be fixed) - but that's ok :)
I like to see works-in-progress :)

Anyway, I can't look at your patch properly (500ms latency sucks) ATM,
because, for some REALLY strange reason scp isn't wokring in eihter
direction!  It was working this morning... too tired to investigate
now.
