copying parted from the boot disk onto another disk

Hello everybody! :)

I tried to copy Parted 1.6.4 into an ext2 floppy disk following the
instructions at
http://www.gnu.org/manual/parted-1.6.1/html_chapter/parted_1.html#SEC7
and I found some surprises...

First of all, after booting from the Parted boot disk, the parted
executable wasn't `/sbin/parted', but `/usr/bin/parted', IIRC.

Then, `/lib/' and any other library directory I was able to find, were
empty directories... So I couldn't copy any library files to the
ext2-formatted floppy disk.

I thought I could have misundertood something, but (that's the real
surprise!) after booting from tomsrtbt (http://www.toms.net/rb/), I
mounted the ext2-formatted floppy disk and

# cd /mnt/floppy
# ./parted

worked!

Well, at least Parted started and was able to print my partition
table... I didn't try doing anything else, but I think it works...
without any LD_LIBRARY_PATH setting... :-O

Is the Parted 1.6.4 (found in its boot disk) statically linked? In this
case, I think the documentation should be updated (OK, docs refer to
version 1.6.1 and I'm using version 1.6.4, I know)... Otherwise, someone
could explain me this weird situation?

TIA!

You're compiling a program and, all of a sudden, boom!
