Ok. This probably is the reason why it doesn't work for me ?
That said, i still cannot create ext2fs filesystems at all with parted,
but then maybe it is only the parted frontend which has problems.
I also have :
$ LANG=C sudo parted /dev/sda
Warning: Unable to determine if partitions are mounted via /proc/mounts or
/etc/mtab. Make sure you don't attempt to resize or modify mounted file
systems. (Even read-only mounted)
Ignore/Cancel? i

When i try to acces my removeable scsi syjet drive as root. Doing the
same with my fixed harddisk that is mounted doesn't exhibit this
problem.
