Hello,

This may be due to the following:
(1) Bad connection (check your ide buses)
(2) Bad memory (run memory check)
(3) And most possible reason is bad blocks (try to turn off dma and
check one more time)
(4) Use can also play a little bit SMART of your drive.

If you want to copy data, use dd_rescue instead of usual dd.
