Parted can't resize NTFS partitions, so any such "resize" command would
fail with an error message.
Perhaps they deleted the partition, and recreated it again. That would
explain the situation.
I guess this is an argument that Parted (as opposed to libparted) should
provide an interface for providing constraints. (Or more simply, allow
the user to disable alignment stuff - i.e. ped_constraint_exact).
