parted 1.6.19: Assertion(ptr->rec_len > 0) at ext2_inode_relocator.c:149

From: Pongo
Subject: parted 1.6.19: Assertion(ptr->rec_len > 0) at ext2_inode_relocator.c:149 in function doblock() failed.

I was attempting to resize /dev/hdc6 from 13 GB to 12 GB (it has 8.5 GB used and 4.5 GB free).

qtparted gave me errors in the GUI, and, at the console, "Error: Filesystem was not cleaning unmounted!". I ran e2fsck -f /dev/hdc6. Then I received an error stating that I should send a message to you with the error: "parted 1.6.19: Assertion(ptr->rec_len > 0) at ext2_inode_relocator.c:149 in function doblock() failed."

All the output follows.

Pass 2: Checking directory structure
Directory inode 1172873, block 0, offset 0: directory corrupted
Salvage<y>?

/dev/hdc6: 251346/1658112 files (3.5% non-contiguous), 2121208/3313398 blocks
