Hello

With previous versions of parted, it was possible to know the geometry of the disk (CHS). This information is very precious and is not always present or exact for very large disks (e.g. SCSI disk of more than 2 TBytes) in /var/log/messages or through the command hdparm.

Could you insert it in your code for the next versions please

Here are the output of parted version 1.6.21 and that of 1.6.11 :

********************************************
situation n°1
********************************************
with parted version 1.6.21 I enter the command : > parted /dev/sdb
the result is :

with parted version 1.6.11 I enter the command : > parted /dev/sdb
the result is :

GNU Parted 1.6.11 with HFS shrink patch 12.5

Using /dev/sdb
Information: The operating system thinks the geometry on /dev/sdb is 680512/255/63.
Therefore, cylinder 1024 ends at 8032,499M.

Thanks you

Cheers
