Crashed at printing device Information

Hello,
I have a problem with an 3,4 GB device and parted. I use gentoo Linux
with the newest updates. The device is an 3ware 9*** hardware raid5 with
8 devices. To set the label is no problem. If I want to do a mkpartfs
nothing will happen. If I do mkpart the partition is probably setup
correctly, but when I want to print the device Information then parted
crashes. This problem is not a problem of the size of the partition. It
happens even if the partition is 10MB. The created partition can
formatted without problems with the mke2fs tool. Is this ab problem with
the glibc? Maybe there problems with other programs, which uses the glibc?
