FYI, here's a new test case.
For reference, when I run this on F13, it takes about 15 seconds
to create its 60 partitions.

* tests/t9040-many-partitions.sh: New test.
* tests/Makefile.am (TESTS): Add it.
(TESTS_ENVIRONMENT): Export AWK to test scripts.
Inspired by the report of a many-partition test
taking far longer on RHEL5 than on RHEL4 in
