I don't think that's the problem. The problem is that the code
uses an expression A->B, where A is of type 'void *'. The C
standard doesn't allow that.

The first problem is in the alloc function. The expression
( ( divvy -> space ) ) -> temp
is not valid, because divvy->space is of type void *.
