Moreover, recinf is its present form is still pretty simple, but the
original idea was to extend it to provide more useful global
information
about the database. Things like accessing the list of types defined in
the file.
Fine. If it's going to be extended, then it'll be worth keeping. But like
you say, in it's present form, it doesn't do much.
It is going to be extended. The general concept is that recinf is used
for showing global information on a set of record sets, while recsel
always operates in a single record set.
