In the absence of response from either the list or the maintainer, I
applied a slightly modified version of the patch. It was simply
impossible to style the 3 pages [0-2] properly with layout.css.

Here is a summary of the changes.

1. Upgrade the *home page* [0] to boilerplate 1.79; fix minor
XHTML errors and 3 typos.

2. For *sather-specification.html* [1] and *sather-tutorial.html* [2]:

* Add standard meta tags; convert the pages to UTF-8 (© is the only
non-ASCII character).

* Add definitions to the local style.css for tables of contents: to make
them easier to read, adjust font-size, font-weight and spacing between
items, and create 2 responsive columns.

3. For all the *documentation pages*:

* Make the background slightly lighter.

* Add a small margin around table.verbatim, and replace the thick black
border with a thin dotted line.

* Add some padding to "pre.synopsis", to keep the dark red border away
from the text.
