At the risk of saying something poorly thought out... for the
pre-finalization, you might be able to have that occur in the
SMOB mark procedure (?).
I don't think this will work because the mark procedure cannot
know that the underlying C object is "ready for finalization".
A hook seems to be the only way, lacking a more complicated
"observer pattern".
Anyway, no worries, i've decided to go w/ svz_TYPE_note_invalid
for any types that need it. Time to move on...
