hi there,

i wish to have all the GNU tools on all the OS i use, so i tried to compile
tar-1.13.90 on a FreeBSD-5.1 pentium4 system (i didnt install anything from
the ports as i'd prefer to compile them myself to have recent verisons of
everything). unfortunately the compile fails, does anyone know how to fix this?

I have installed GNU libiconv and gettext, and nothing else beyond the standard
at this stage. the problem i think is that this is being set in the Makefile
   LIB_CLOCK_GETTIME = none required
resulting in:

make all-recursive
Making all in doc
Making all in lib
make all-am
Making all in m4
Making all in src
gcc -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -march=pentium4 -L/opt/sam/lib -o tar buffer.o
compare.o create.o delete.o extract.o xheader.o incremen.o list.o
mangle.o misc.o names.o rtapelib.o system.o tar.o update.o ../lib/libtar.a
none required
gcc: none: No such file or directory
gcc: required: No such file or directory
*** Error code 1

Stop in /usr/src/sam/gnutools/tar-1.13.90/src.
