For what it's worth, Solaris 9 "tar" doesn't warn about this problem,
whereas "star" says "WARNING: Partial (single block) EOF detected."
unless you specify star's "nowarn" option.

I tend to think that warnings like that should be enabled only if
users specify an option (--pedantic, say?), unless the warnings are
really important enough to bother the ordinary user with.
